FAQ

Q: Do you have a case that will work as a carry-on?

A: The RB Junior case is specifically designed to fit in overhead compartments. The Jr can be configured with the pads we provide for: 2 trumpets and 1 piccolo trumpet OR 1 trumpet and 1 flugelhorn

Q: What are the outside dimensions of your cases?

A:

RB Junior
Exterior Dimensions (LxWxH) 21.7 x 14.1 x 8.9 in. (551 x 358 x 226 mm)
Interior Dimensions (LxWxH) 20.5 x 11.5 x 7.2 in. (521 x 292 x 183 mm)

RB Max
Exterior Dimensions (LxWxH) 24.6 x 19.7 x 11.7 in. (625 x 500 x 297 mm)
Interior Dimensions (LxWxH) 22.0 x 17.0 x 10.0 in. (559 x 432 x 254 mm)

Q: What is the empty weight of your cases?

A: It varies depending on the configuration, but here are some general ranges. Remember, adding instruments to an empty case is the biggest variable! Here are approximate weights for the cases we have shipped.

  • RB Junior: 12-14 pounds (5.5-6.5kg)
  • RB Max: 22-28 pounds (10-12.75kg)

Q: Your cases look like they would be pretty heavy.

A: Our cases are heavy duty. They are designed to withstand lots of abuse. You don't get that with a lightweight case or a backpack. Remember, our cases have wheels, so the weight is not as substantial as you may think.

Q: I really need a larger case than the RB Junior, will your RB Max keep my horns safe?

A: The RB Max is our best seller. (Not that the RB Junior isn't just as good!) People do check the RB Max all the time. It is designed to be the strongest case you would expect. Our cases are used by professionals that travel frequently and are suitable for being checked with luggage.

Q: What kind of lining is in your case?

A: We use a special foam-backed fabric lining custom manufactured just for us. Each case comes with ample padding to protect your horns. The outer shell is a very hard plastic intended to hold up to the roughest handlers. Our cases are VERY hard on the outside and VERY soft on the inside.
